Perivale – Home to Many Famous Faces
Situated in the London borough of Ealing, in the UB6 postcode, is the small suburb of Perivale. It is close by Charing Cross. Up until the late 18th century, Perivale was actually known as Little Greenford, as well as Greenford Parva. It was known as this so that it didn’t get confused with Greater Greenford. It was once and ancient parish in the district of Middlesex. However, in 1926, it became a part of the borough of Ealing. The fields in the area were once used to grow hay to feed the horses that worked during the Victorian era. However, in the 1930’s, there was expansion work carried out on residential areas. The area of Perivale itself is now largely residential. What many people may not know is the fact that the Perivale area is actually home to the one of the first American Diners in the country- Starvin’ Marvin’s. Through the area of Perivale runs the River Brent. Since the early 80’s, Perivale has been home to the non-league team, Hanwell Town FC. What may surprise a lot of people is just how many famous faces come from the town. Famous people from the area include: Mungo Jerry bassist, Mike Cole, England footballer Alan Devonshire, Carol Middleton, mother of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, Janet Street-Porter, and Chris Thomas, record producer, all come from the area. Transport in the area is largely through the station that is a part of the London Underground.
